About New Consortium

The New Consortium of Law and Business (affectionately called the Consortium) has one focus: your child.  As the premier charter school in Tennessee, our school has located in the crown jewel of our state:  Downtown Memphis. The Consortium operates as a center of excellence in law and business education. Our students are equipped to take an active approach to master the learning process in an environment where Master Teachers serve as facilitators and advisers of the process.

The Consortium will open its doors on August 7, 2010.  We are now in the process of enrolling our very first class of seventh graders.

We have chosen to limit our first year’s enrollment to 30 students.  Our intention is to give each student the attention they expect, the interpersonal connectivity they need, and the best chance for academic success they deserve.  We will evolve into a school comprised of approximately 210 students in grades six through twelve by the year 2016. The Consortium will grow one grade each year during this time. This incremental and methodical growth is essential to the Consortium’s comprehensive, application-based curriculum.

Our school, moreover, is committed to offering admissions to students regardless of test scores or grades.  We especially strive to make our school accessible to all eligible Tennesseans with a special emphasis on young people who attend schools that are failing or young people who have struggled to make adequate yearly progress as determined by the State's accountability standards and the Charter School's Act of 2002 and its subsequent revisions.

The New Consortium of Law and Business stands ready to transform education in Memphis to provide our city with global citizens who will make our world a better place.
